Starting with an image I took off a local cafes, I zoomed in a focused on their logo sign, really looking at the getail of the patterns the surrounding shapes made. I gradually simplified it using basic shapes and straight lines. Then adding colours and shadings in the style of Jasper Johns.
Creating a larger acrylic painting in an abstract form
Another acrylic painting, this time adding textures and brighter colours
For the final piece, I created a large 3D cardboard model of the designs using recycled cardboard and water activated craft tape, leaving a large hole near the centre. I further used hard drying clay, tissue paper and string to add textures to certain sections of the cardboard. Finally using acrylic paint to add depth and shading to these textures
